Microneedling vs Mesotherapy: What Is the Difference?

By Poppy Broughton

With so many different aesthetic treatments available on the market, it is often difficult to stay up to date on the latest treatments and know what the best treatments are to offer to your clients. In this blog, Fox Pharma will help you to understand the difference is between microneedling and mesotherapy in order for you to get the best results for your clients.

What is microneedling?

Microneedling is an aesthetic treatment which is used to rejuvenate and improve the surface of skin. The treatment is capable of reducing the appearance of fine lines, expression lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, acne scars, hyperpigmentation and stretch marks.

The treatment is administered using a microneedling pen which is capable of puncturing the surface of the skin to produce multiple micro-injuries. In response to the injuries, collagen synthesis is triggered, new skin tissue is generated and the skin resurfaces.

Microneedling treatments include the application of healing gels, serums or skin boosters. Also, microneedling treatments can include the application of your own blood-derived growth factors and platelet rich plasma (PRP), more commonly known as the ‘vampire facial’.

The treatment usually lasts between 30-60 minutes depending on the level of treatment and the size of the treatment site. To achieve the best results, 2-3 treatments are recommended which should be spaced 2-3 weeks apart.

Initial effects of the treatment will appear 2-3 weeks after treatment and full effects of the treatment will appear 4-6 weeks after treatment. Repeat microneedling treatments may be required to maintain or improve results.

What is mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is an aesthetic treatment which involves the injection of a customised formula into the skin using fine needles. The formula can include mixtures of vitamins, herbal extracts, enzymes, amino acids and medications.

Depending on the formula used and the client’s skin concerns, mesotherapy aims to address a wide range of concerns. In particular, mesotherapy can help to reduce cellulite, remove fat, contour the body, rejuvenate the skin, tighten the skin, reduce fine lines, reduce wrinkles and treat areas of hyperpigmentation.

A mesotherapy treatment usually lasts between 20-30 minutes depending on the level of treatment and the size of the treatment site. To achieve the best results, 6-8 treatments are recommended, which should be spaced 2 weeks apart. In order to maintain results, top-up treatments should be administered 1-2 times a year.

What products provide the best results?

Stocking a range of microneedling and mesotherapy products in your clinic is essential to ensure that you can treat all of you clients’ skin concerns.

For microneedling, Fox Pharma recommends the newly launched range of microneedling serums by Inbiotec. The range includes:

1. Inbioface, which can be used to improve skin laxity and elasticity while promoting new skin cell growth;

2. Inbioregen, which can be used to regenerate and rejuvenate the skin, working on both the surface and the subcutaneous layer of the skin to improve the skins overall appearance;

3. Inbiohair, which can be used to moisturise and rejuvenate the scalp to improve hair thickness and volume; and

4. Inbioamber, which can be used to combat inflammation, redness and dehydration to improve the overall condition of the skin.

Also, skin boosters and polynucleotides can be microneedled into the skin. If you want to provide your clients with intense hydration, we recommend Seventy Hyal 2000 sold exclusively at Fox Pharma.

Seventy Hyal 2000 is a bio-stimulating, hyaluronic acid (HA) skin booster which treats the physiological depletion of HA within the skin via infiltration of HA back into the skin’s dermis. The HA stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin in the skin which creates subtle volume and improves skin texture and laxity.

If you want to provide your clients with skin rejuvenation, we recommend VITARAN sold exclusively at Fox Pharma. VITARAN is a polynucleotide skin treatment derived from highly purified fragments of trout DNA and is manufactured using the highest quality-control standards. VITARAN can activate the skin’s production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid (HA) which aids in skin regeneration and repair at a cellular level.

For mesotherapy, Fox Pharma recommends Neofound, a next generation bio-remodelling mesotherapy treatment. Neofound helps to treat the effects associated with ageing, including fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, skin texture and volume loss.
