• What is HIFU Treatment?

  HIFU treatment, high-intensity focused ultrasound, is a quick, painless, and minimally invasive treatment. It uses ultrasound beams to treat various skin concerns, from ageing skin to fine lines and wrinkles, texture, skin laxity, and more. Endorsed by qualified practitioners, it’s often referred to as the ‘non-surgical face lift’ or ‘lunchtime facial’.

• How Does HIFU Work?

  Using a high-intensity focused ultrasound machine, high-energy ultrasound waves penetrate the skin, causing thermal coagulation (where heat waves damage skin tissue) to trigger the body’s natural repair response. This leads to cell regeneration and collagen and elastin production, resulting in firmer, smoother, and brighter skin.

   

  HIFU treatments can also be used on the body for toning and slimming. They work similarly to the facial treatment, but the heat waves break down fat cells instead of skin tissue, so the body’s lymphatic system can drain them more easily. This results in a reduction of fat in the body and a slimmer appearance.

• How Long Does HIFU Take to Show Results?

  The results achieved with an HIFU treatment depend on the client and the body part being treated. For facial treatments, some clients may see immediate results as their skin feels firmer and appears brighter, but the full effect may take up to two to three months, as the body naturally produces more collagen. Noticeable results can be achieved with just one or two sessions, and a top-up treatment is recommended once or twice a year for maintenance.

   

  For body slimming HIFU treatments, results also depend on the client’s body condition and the area being treated, though on average, they can appear within eight to twelve weeks and last up to a year. A treatment course of two to four sessions, four to six weeks apart, is recommended for maintaining best results.

• Is HIFU Safe?

  As HIFU is a noninvasive treatment, it’s considered very safe when conducted by a qualified professional. There’s minimal downtime and aftercare required, though clients are advised to avoid makeup, excessive sun exposure, sweating, and other cosmetic procedures for a few days and stick to gentler skincare products, avoiding active ingredients such as retinol and Vitamin C.
