Clarithromycin belongs to the macrolide group of antibiotics to treat bacterial infections. It is an erythromycin derivative but with slightly greater activity than the parent compound. They can be used as an alternative in penicillin-allergic patients.
Clarithromycin tablets should be swallowed whole with water. The course should be completed unless you are advised to stop by a healthcare professional.
