Experts Predict Upcoming Aesthetics Trends In 2023

By Florence Goulbourne

With 2023 already on the horizon, the aesthetics industry is embracing new trends, as more patients are opting for non-surgical treatment to refine their look. Experiencing unprecedented growth year on year, the industry has witnessed first-hand the interest and demand for newness in the sector that shows no signs of slowing down. Fox Pharma caught up with experts in the industry to predict the upcoming aesthetics trends that we can expect to see among patients in the new year.

PLLA FILLERS (POLY-L-LACTIC ACID FILLERS)

Expected to grow significantly beyond 2023, PLLA fillers, more formally known as Poly-L-Lactic Acid Fillers are set to dominate the market and trends in the new year. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, PLLA fillers are bio-stimulatory fillers that work to gradually restore volume to the injected area. PLLA fillers are absorbable, semi-permanent and injectable implants that stimulate natural collagen production to create volume in the injected area over an extended period.

With more patients gravitating towards a ‘natural look’ following the ‘less is more’ approach, we can expect that patients will fawn over the PLLA filler movement. The gradual results can be observed over time, unlike the immediate visible results achieved through use of traditional fillers. PLLA fillers work in sync with the body to produce natural results over time by assisting the body’s natural collagen production – making this the perfect treatment for those aiming for a more natural look.

Nurse Kirsten Horsfield at Enhance Aesthetics noted “I think we are going to see more bio-stimulating products like PLLA being used to encourage natural collagen increase for longer-lasting results, as opposed to using dermal filers” when discussing PLLA fillers as a trending topic in 2023.

CHERRY LIPS

With lip filler trends continuing to emerge following the growth of the lip augmentation sector, one technique piquing patients’ interest is cherry lips. Originally made popular in the beauty division of the world, Korea, ‘cherry lips’ is a playful reference to the shape that the filler technique creates. With a growing desire for a natural-looking outcome, we can expect patients to switch their current lip technique to the more natural cherry lips approach.

As opposed to giving the lips an all-over plumping effect by dispersing filler into the entire surface area, practitioners instead focus on filling only the middle areas of the top and bottom lip. The cherry lips technique is intended to add volume to the middle section only to create the illusion of cherries within the lip (two on the top and two on the bottom) for a subtle pout that doesn’t compromise on volume or lift.

Because the filler is not administered into the outer portions of the lip, this allows the practitioner to focus on the centre to create the natural-looking pout that patients are in pursuit of. With a larger movement toward natural-looking tweakments, techniques such as the cherry lips method are set to dominate the trends of 2023.

Former clinical pharmacist and NHS Intensive Care Unit Nurse Reem Marstani who now runs her aesthetics practice gave her verdict on the cherry lips trend, commenting:

“The cherry lips trend is a growing technique that has gained popularity not just in Korea but also in the Middle East. Patients and practitioners love this technique because it gives a very feminine, doll-like look with a natural finish. The technique also mimics many of the trending filters we see across social media and allows patients to imitate this. For this technique, I would suggest using a medium-density filler such as REVOLAX as the filler needs to be soft but also hold its shape so as not to migrate. This is because you are essentially injecting a large amount into one area. This technique does look beautiful once completed but client selection is key with this trend. It can only be done if it is balanced well with the rest of their facial features.”

OUR RECCOMENDED PRODUCT:

For the cherry lips technique, we recommend none other than the Nation’s Favourite Dermal Filler, REVOLAX Deep. REVOLAX Deep has a thick and long-lasting gel formula, ideal for lip augmentation methods with a natural finish.

SKIN BOOSTER TREATMENTS

In keeping with the shift towards a more natural approach – which perhaps is the overall biggest trend for the next year, we can expect patients to focus on repairing their skin before turning to facial volumisation treatments. Following the skin booster boom of 2022, we predict that skin boosters will see an even bigger increase in the new year with patients taking their skincare regimes to the next level.

Paramedic and medic aesthetics practitioner, Jon Almond was quoted when asked about trends we can expect to see in aesthetics in 2023:

“As a practitioner within my clinic and within my training academy, we’ve already seen a huge increase in those wanting skin booster treatments – particularly since the launch of The Next Generation Skin Booster, Seventy Hyal 2000 earlier in 2022. For me, I expect that patients will continue to ask about and for skin boosters in the new year with a huge focus on skin rejuvenation across social media. The results that you can get from skin boosters are phenomenal and we’ve seen the downturn of previously popular treatments such as PRP as a result. So, I think we can expect to hear a lot more about skin boosters in 2023.”

Unlike other injectables such as traditional dermal fillers, skin boosters are not intended for volume restoration, but instead to help hydrate and rejuvenate dry and lacklustre skin. This helps patients to embrace a makeup-free, natural look without the look of obvious enhancement. Skin boosters work beyond the initial layer of the skin to help repair skin irregularities whilst adding an intense surge of hydration through Hyaluronic Acid (HA) formulations. Skin boosters impart a luminous glow to the skin, offering benefits that far outweigh those of topical creams and moisturisers.

OUR RECCOMENDED PRODUCT:

Seventy Hyal 2000 has proven to be both a practitioner and patient staple for refined and rejuvenated skin. Developed with one of the highest formulations of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), Seventy Hyal 2000 also works to stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin within the skin for a feel-good glow all over.
