Bimatoprost is a prescription-only medication indicated for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in chronic open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension in adults(as adjunctive therapy to beta-blockers or as monotherapy)

Mode of action:
- The mechanism of action by which Bimatoprost decreases intraocular pressure in humans is by increasing aqueous humour outflow through the trabecular meshwork and enhancing uveoscleral outflow.
Contraindications:
- Bimatoprost is contraindicated in patients who have had a suspected previous adverse reaction to benzalkonium chloride that has led to discontinuation.
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients.
Special warnings and precautions for use:
- Bimatoprost should not be used during pregnancy unless extremely necessary.
- Potentially, hair growth may occur in areas where Bimatoprost solution has repeatedly come in contact with the skin’s surface. It is important to apply Bimatoprost as instructed and avoid it running on to the cheeks or other areas of the face.
