Glyceryl Trinitrate Spray is a prescription-only medicine indicated for the treatment of acute angina pectoris and the prevention of inducible angina.

GTN has been known to be used topically (off-label) for the adjunctive treatment of an occlusion following the use of dermal fillers. However, as it is not licensed in the UK for this use the prescriber takes full responsibility for prescribing the medicine and for overseeing the patient’s care, monitoring, and any follow-up treatment.

Description

Suitable For:

For use in adults only.

Mode of Action:

The principal pharmacologic action of Glyceryl Trinitrate is the relaxation of the vascular smooth muscle.

Contraindications:

- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.

- Severe hypotension (systolic blood pressure lower than 90mm Hg).

- Hypotensive shock.

- Severe anaemia.

- Constrictive pericarditis.

- Extreme bradycardia.

- Glucose-6-phosphate-Dehydrogenase-deficiency.

- Cerebral haemorrhage and brain trauma.

- Aortic and/or mitral stenosis.

- Angina caused by hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy.

- Circulatory collapse.

- Cardiogenic shock.

- Toxic pulmonary oedema.

- Concomitant use with phosphodiesterase inhibitors such as Sildenafil, Tadalafil or Vardenafil.

- Concomitant use with the soluble guanylate cyclase stimulator riociguat.
